A Song for the Earth
Gabriel Duncan

dig up all of the earth that was here
and encase it in concrete
poison everything that does not belong
it's the nature that we fear

rape the land
and gut the ground
send them off
or put them down

and someday it might reappear
with six fingers
and a healthy glow
natural will be expended payloads
but the earth will still be bone

these clouds will congregate in memory
of a golden age
and the good 'ole days
why manifest destiny
why can't we let it be
